Goose Creek Campsite

This system settled in on Wednesday morning and stayed there through Thursday.
Back to W8H, Horses on the Air!.

We did not stay at the Goose Creek campsite. The reason for this was that the horse trail from Goose Creek was suddenly off-limits!

The word was that the land through which the trail leads had been sold, and the new owner refused access. Reportedly, this was despite an easement the MTRA has on the deed, and in disregard of all the work the MTA has invested in developing and maintaining the trail through its marshy lowlands, some of the most picturesque of the entire journey, and the decades of regular use by the MTRA. No specifics were discussed, but the veterans said a legal challenge was imminent. There had not been time to devise a workable alternate rout for the horses. There was some speculation that a workable alternate might not exist.

So, when I arrived at Goose Creek, I had my regular chores with the picket line and water buckets, and I needed to fill and dump water for the trailer and horse. But then I had to clear out the horse part of the trailer. I had been using that for the generator and all my stuff. Sorting and rearranging took quite a while.

It started to rain about the time Michelle arrived with Magic. It was forecast to continue through the day and into Thursday. The timing was as good, since we would be staying put at Pickerel Lake on Thursday. Nobody would be riding the trail tomorrow.

On to Pickerel Lake Trailcamp!
